 Statement of Purpose

With the benefit of government grants and private donations, Science Matters Foundation is providing opportunities to low income families and underfunded school districts.

We offer both individual scholarships and entire science programs to schools with little or no science budget.

Our goal is to bring back excitement for science.

Many of this country's naturally gifted scientists share a handicap: They can't read yet.  They also can't play with matches, focus microscopes or see over lab tables.  Who are these gifted scientists?  They are the children of our great country.  They are our future.

"Children love to explore the natural world.  They love to make sense out of it," says Carlo Parrvano, director of the Merck Institute for Science Education.  "By the fourth grade, we squash that curiosity with the way we teach science."

Science Matters Foundation is providing a solution.

Time Magazine's February 13, 2006 edition clearly explains the problem.

While there are many companies providing science education to schools and individuals, the costs are becoming out of reach for many.  Science Matters Foundation is working to identify those in need, in an effort to subsidize or fully fund a science program.

With your help, we can add a science curriculum to an underfunded school or school district, or provide funds to send children from low income families to some of our existing science programs.

Some of our offerings

• 6 Different eight week programs

• Scholarships to programs offered by Science Matters Foundation

• Science camps for elementary schools during intersession breaks

• Science programs at community centers, YMCAs, libraries, and other non-profit organizations

Your gift of any amount will help a child from a low income family learn and enjoy the wonders of Science.  Larger gifts may help us adopt entire schools or school districts which lack the needed funds for a science program.

All gifts will be greatly appreciated.
